Dedicated to the memory of John Jillings

This site is a tribute to John Jillings, who was born in Watford on November 15, 1931. He is the much loved husband of Hazel and wonderful Dad to Sarah & Caroline and will always be remembered.   A life well lived with a zest for life until the end.

We want to use this site to share pictures and memories of John and also to raise money for the brilliant Princess Alice Hospice in Esher where he spent his last few days.

Thoughts

From Peter & Anne Jillings When my brother Bob and I were 8/10 years of age our father died. John was only 20 years of age but took the responsibility for us both involving us in his Soccer and Cricket and taking us almost everywhere with him. Few many young men would have undertaken such a task, but his efforts and encouragement made us the men we are today. He was a Man of Honour and Presence and our love and thoughts of him will be in our minds always.

From Barbara and Vic Norman: We were so lucky to have known John for so many years spent in Portugal and socially in England. So what was John like? My experience of typical John was when I did some decorating in their apartment. Hazel left a cold lunch for John and myself - because John was going to help me Hazel left us to it. We started about 10am. Well at about 11am John suggested coffee so I declined and said perhaps later, and John carried on with his paper. We had lunch at 12.30. So the rest of the day was interrupted with breaks. John helped me clear up then we had YES you guessed a LARGE GIN AND TONIC. Thankyou John LOVE Barbara and Vic UP THE 'AMMERS R.I.P.

I first met John in the early seventies when he was best man at my sisters wedding in Australia. He was what we would call a truely good and decent Pom. John fitted in easily to a new environment and was well liked by all who met him. He had a good presence and I remember him as a very nice person. This may sound simple but few people are very nice people. My thoughts are with his family and close friends. Greg Anderson.
